LYAP is a peer-to-peer organisation bringing important health
messages to sectors of Lao society that are hard for other channels to reach. We
want to bring raise health stands by grassroots efforts that significantly
increase the power and reach of the messages.
Our concerns span HIVAIDS prevention and post-infection care,
TB, malaria and other health issues.
We recognise the importance of good nutrition to healthy living,
and of how food insecurity, nutrition and health are interrelated issues.
We have a holistic approach that addresses both pre- and post
infection activities, and free from gender, race or sexuality bias.
We aim
-
To develop self-belief among vulnerable young people on leadership skills, and
a desire to be engaged in society by addressing health and other social issues
relevant to their daily lives.
-
To nurture a spirit of empowerment by improving and fostering a network of
young volunteers through promoting creativity, independent thinking, problem
solving, participatory processes, spirit of team building and community
cohesion.
-
To improve the life and wellbeing of vulnerable young people through the
delivery of health education programs, care support and treatment.

An HIV infected boy whose parents have died is cared
for by a grandparent. LYAP's activities encompass both prevention through
education and care for people living with HIVAIDS.
